Short statement: Even in the current days with the predominate use of statistical processing of big (language) data, modelling linguistic information on several levels of description and linguistic annotation is a important resource both for fundamental research and applications of language technology. Since the production of these resources is not only time consuming but also reveals insights of the research perspective of the resource creators, it is very desirable to keep this data accessible. The use of standards plays a crucial role to reach this aim. I am therefor involved in several initiatives devoted to standardization of linguistic resources, most notably within the ISO committee TC37/SC4 and in the TEI.
