Diversity and heterogeneity are European cultural and linguistic essentials and Europe’s cultural wealth. The aim of this workshop focussed European Commonalities and work towards bridging gaps of content specific, technological and social differences against the background of the European dictionary portal.

In the following three sessions we want to address heterogeneity from different viewpoints:
1) What is heterogeneity? Commonalities and European Diversity with the special theme of Colours of the Landscape (March 31st, morning)

Objectives:
In this session we will focus on the topic of lexical variation in phraseology and its relationship and role in the Digital Humanities. Heterogeneity is seen as a wealth that requiree management so as to valorise crosscultural variation. To set a context for discussion, we propose a working title for the meeting as: Lexis and the Landscape: Colours and Collocability, Variation and the View. Consequently all presentations are expected to link to this theme so as to explore means of managing and valorising lexical variation in dictionaries.

3) How can we address heterogeneity socially? (April 1st, morning)

co-organised by *DARIAH-Working Group on SI (Social Innovation)

In this session we brainstorm over Citizen Science in the fields of Digital Lexicography against the background of social changes in the digital society. The aim of this session is to get towards an overview on visions, uncertainties, existing practices of Citizen Science and explore and exploit them for Innovative Digital Lexicography.
Call for papers
In preparation for the meeting, we call on you to submit short papers (1000 words) by January 22nd 2016 (5:00 pm GMT) on the topics below with special view on the European Dictionary portal and its potentials.
The selection will be made by the Programme Committee based on topic relevance and quality. Additionally, all proposed papers will also be made available through the ENeL website as the deliverable of the meeting (www.elexicography.eu).
Feedback on the accepted papers by January, 26th 2016.
The number of reimbursed participant places is limited, so not every submission may be granted an opportunity to travel to the Barcelona meeting.
